Abstract : Experiments have led to the formation of strongly bonded sintered zinc structures. The results of the trials using various cleaners to promote sintering are described. Propanoic acid and butanoic acid were found to work as cleaners using alcohols as solvents for the cleaning reaction. Experiments with fillers to vary the porosity of the sintered structure are mentioned. The procedure which should give the best results for obtaining clean, porous zinc structures is outlined. The purpose of the work was to develop porous battery electrodes. (Author Modified Abstract)
