Abstract : The present paper summarizes all the previous results of the authors in the area of sequential search of optimal dosages, under linear regression of dosagetoxicity. The optimal dosage is defined as the largest dosage for which the probability that the patients toxicity does not exceed a given threshold is at least gamma, 0 < gamma < 1. The search problem is a valid design problem when some (or all) of the regression parameters are unknown. In the present paper we provide a general introductory discussion concerning the applicability of the derives procedures, set up the general criteria and present the various sequential methods of online experimentation, which search for the location of the optimal dosage.
