Abstract : The purpose of the research performed under this program is to investigate and demonstrate tunable coherent infrared sources. The program consists of three parts: infrared generation in CdSe by parametric oscillation and by mixing, infrared generation in the new chalcopyrite nonlinear materials, and generation by stimulated Compton scattering (SCS). The first two parts of this program have been experimentally investigated with significant results demonstrated during the year. The third part of the program consists of a thorough theoretical study of the prospects for Stimulated Compton Scattering.
