Abstract : The cost plus award fee (CPAF) contract is a relatively new innovation in the area of Government incentive contract administration, first introduced in 1962. Not enough information is currently available, however, to realistically determine the effects of the award fee provision on contractor motivation. The initial purpose of this effort is to determine if a correlation exists between contractor performance and the relative value of the award fee.
