Abstract : Does the present insurgency in the Eastern Malaysian province of Sarawak constitute a serious threat to the security of Malaysia. To properly address the subject, data was gathered by literature research, and personal interview. The number of guerrillas estimated to be operating in the Sarawak State of East Malaysia is 850. This is a decrease of 75% from the estimates stated in 1966, after the War of Confrontation between Indonesia and Malaysia. This fact, coupled with the failure of the North Kalimantan Communist Party to win increased indigenous support and the current Malaysian Government drive against remaining insurgents, gives the Malaysian Government small cause for alarm.
