Abstract : An image enhancement technique for black and white images is formulated as a linear estimation problem with no a priori assumptions about the image. The mapping matrix is derived, and a solution and implementation are presented for least square error minimization. The solution is given as the product of the pseudoinverse of the mapping matrix and the observation vector. An example is presented and future efforts are discussed. (Author)
