Abstract : The paper presents a method for the evaluation of mental stress in production situations where mental fatigue is considered a significant problem. The level of mental stress which the operator experiences is reflected in the concentration of 17-hydroxycorticosteroid in his parotid fluid. Included is a discussion of the theory behind the technique and its procedural application. The use of the technique to reduce mental stress and the effects of mental fatigue in a production facility is also discussed. (Author)
