Abstract : A computer simulation has been written which is useful for describing the use of a rotatable pool of spare items to supply a fleet of independently operating vehicles. The spare items may be installed at up to three levels of maintenance, while the ships operate on a fixed schedule moving between the three levels. The levels of maintenance are: Organizational, Intermediate, and Depot. The items may come ashore to be repaired when the vehicle is at the deport level only, or at both the intermediate and depot levels. Similarly, spare items may replace failed items at all three levels (when spares are carried), at the intermediate and depot levels, or at the depot level only. When failed items come ashore they are repaired and enter a pool, waiting to replace a failed item. (Modified author abstract)
