Abstract : The parimary goal of this research paper was to develop a model organizational structure and associated staffing requirement for a 250-prisoner capacity Army area confinement facility (ACF) functioning under a new concept where correctional treatment is no longer one of its missions. Basically the study approach used identifies in detail all the specified and implied tasks contained in the mission statement. Next the types of occupational specialities needed to perform these tasks are determined with in the frame work of standard military occupational speciality manuals. From this information personnel requirements by speciality are developed using staffing guides, author produced formulas, and professional estimates. The results obtained are then compared to the structure and manpower authorizations of a similar size existing installation stockade. (Modified author abstract)
