Abstract : The report considers the effect of air resistance on the damping of metal plates which are secured cantilever-wise. It is shown that the decrement of free vibrations, corresponding to aerodynamic resistance, with preassigned specimen length and width is practically independent of the amplitude of the stresses, and the damping aerodynamic force is proportional to the rate at which the bending of the specimen changes.
