Abstract : The authors consider approximations (x sub n) obtained by moment discretization to (i) the minimal (L sub 2)-norm solution of Kx = y where K is a Hilbert-Schmidt integral operator on (L sub 2), and to (ii) the least squares solution of minimal (L sub 2)-norm of the same equation when y is not in the range R(K) of K.
