Abstract : ENT-35640-a-Ga, a candidate repellent, was evaluated on New Zealand white rabbits for its potential to cause skin irritation. The data obtained serve as a basis for making a recommendation concerning its potential use on humans. This recommendation is intended only for guidance in further entomological testing of this compound. This compound produced moderate primary irritation of the intact skin and the skin surrounding an abraded area. It should not be used directly on the skin without a prophetic patch test having been conducted on humans to determine irritation potential to human skin, but may be used without patch testing with extreme caution, as a clothing impregnant. This compound should be resubmitted in the form and at the intended use concentration so that its irritation potential can be reexamined using other testing techniques on animals prior to human testing.
