Abstract : Electron-acceptor reagents have been extensively employed recently for the detection of 'pi-excessive' (or 'electron-rich') compounds on thin-layer chromatograms. Such reagents have proved to be of considerable value for the detection of many types of organic molecules including indoles, phenols, aromatic amines, aromatic ethers, pesticides and phenothiazines. The authors report the use of a selection of electron-acceptor reagents as chromogenic reagents for the detection of some hallucinogenic drugs.
