Abstract : The Aircraft Radiation Code, ARC, is described for CDC-6600 and IBM 360/370 computers with full FORTRAN compilers. ARC is a fast-running radiation transport program which calculates the crew dose from nuclear weapons, accounting for aircraft attenuation, attitude, flight path, range, yield, fission-fusion ratio, altitude, neutron, air secondary gamma rays, and fission-product gamma rays with hydrodynamic enhancement. ARC requires as input angle-dependent attenauation factors for the aircraft to be obtained from a modified version of MEVDP. Alternatively, empirical attenuation factors may be used when less accurate results are acceptable. Air-transport data are obtained from ATR, or alternatively, from a simplified set of fitted data built into ARC. The aircraft maneuver before and following detonation may be described either in constant-g or constant radius terms. Diagnostic features are incorporated for debugging. Typical problems require 12000 words of core and execute in a few seconds. (Author)
