Abstract : The report describes two basic methods for testing the heat resistance of mastic construction adhesives. Thirty diversified adhesives were classified as either heat resistant or nonheat resistant. Heat-resistant adhesives in wood-to-wood joints withstood temperatures exceeding 550F and a load of 2 pounds per square inch. Nonheat-resistant adhesives failed at temperatures generally below 300F.
