Abstract : A solid state Klystron power supply with ripple components of less than 1.3 microvolts at 1100 volts dc is described. Virtual elimination of 60-Hz related ripple is achieved by converting the 60-hertz power to dc which powers a hybrid push-pull amplifier with good common-mode rejection. The amplifier is driven by a 5-Kilohertz sinusoidal signal which may be phase locked with the radar pulse reptition frequency. The amplifier output signal drives transformers whose output voltages are rectified, regulated and filtered to yield low-ripple dc outputs. When phase locked, the low residual ripple is synchronous with the radar pulse, thus producing a minimum of system interference.
