Abstract : A statistical study is made of the 5480 microwave solar radio events observed at The Pennsylvania State University Radio Astronomy Observatory (PSURAO) at radio frequencies of 10.7 GHz(2.80 cm. lambda), 2.70 GHz(11.1 cm. lambda), and 960 MHz(31.2 cm. lambda). The observations were made during the first six years of the PSURAO solar radio patrol program, and extend from solar activity minimum through the flat peak in solar activity cycle 20. The twelve event types in the PSURAO Classification System for microwave events are divided into two classes, primary events and secondary events. The primary events (SIMPLE, COMPLEX, GREAT BURST, PECULIAR and PRECURSOR) are events which are capable of high peak flux densities and large event energies. The secondary events (P.B.I., RISE, SPIKE, FLUCT., FALL, ABSORPTION and P.B.D.) are not generally capable of attaining these. Relationships between ten selected pairs of morphological parameters of SIMPLE events are studied with the aid of modified scatter diagrams called matrix diagrams. A total of ten approximate physical relationships are established. A number of additional relationships are shown which result from instrumental limitations on the morphological parameters.
