Abstract : Stability tests on models of sounding rocket payloads have been performed in the Boston University supersonic wind tunnel. Measurements were made on cone-cylinder shaped models capable of almost unlimited freedom of motion, and truncated along the longitudinal surface from 3% up to 40% of the diameter. The models were supported at different center of gravity positions. Tests were conducted at very high angles of attack, between Mach numbers of 2.0 to 3.5, and at Reynolds numbers in the neighborhood of 1,000,000. (Author)
