Abstract : Research has shown that the alloy Fe-12Ni-0.25Ti may be processed to have an outstanding combination of strength and toughness at cryogenic temperatures. In this paper the authors present some of the results obtained to date with this alloy, and compare these to the properties of two commonly used cryogenic steels. Tensile properties, impact properties, and preliminary results of fracture tougness tests are presented. (Modified author abstract)
