Abstract : The results of shock machine tests of 70/30 copper-nickel and 1020 steel tubing are presented. The copper-nickel tubing had a 0.675 in. O.D. and the steel 0.625 in. O.D. The specimens were arranged as hinged-hinged beams carrying a heavy central mass. The acceleration of the mass and the strain on the tubing were measured and the resulting experimental moment and curvature calculated as a function of time. Static tests were also conducted. The constants in proposed moment-curvature relationships were deduced and discussed. (Author)
