Abstract : Gas phase reactions leading to the formation of singlet metastables in oxygen are being experimentally studied. A flowing afterglow system coupled with titration techniques, metallic surface recombination, and direct sampling and separation of the reactants and products according to their g-factors are used to further specify these reactions. Ground state species have been dominantly found in the H + O(3), NO + O(3) and O + O(3) reactions. (Author)
