Abstract : The oxidation kinetics and phase composition of the scale of AN5, AN6, and AN6a titanium-niobium based test alloys is studied. Alloy AN5 is a composite of elements belonging to the Ti - Nb - Cr - Mo system. In the original state it has a beta-solid solution structure, which breaks down at 850C with the formation of the compound (TiNb)Cr2. The AN6 and AN6a alloys are distinguished from AN5 by aluminum and boron additions and the fact that they do not contain molybdenum.
