Abstract : In order to obtain information to study the effects of incoming qaulity and inspection rate on inspector accuracy, eight subjects inspected printed circuits for defects, at various combinations of incoming quality and inspection rate. The results obtained indicate that inspector accuracy was affected by the incoming quality of the items, but the manner in which it was affected depended on the measure of inspector accuracy that was used. The effect of inspection ration accuracy was very pronounced and indicated that higher accuracies are associated with slower inspection rates and vice versa. The study concludes with recommendations for more research in the area of inspector accuracy, and a discussion of the problems encountered in trying to determine inspector accuracy.
