Abstract : The authors demonstrate that sodium chloride and a number of other salts in low concentration inhibit the polymerization of monomeric fibrin, and in high concentration accelerate its polymerization. On the basis of accelerating action, salts can be arranged in the following scale: citrate, sulfate, phosphate, acetate, chloride. The accelerating effect of a salt increases along with temperature.
