Abstract : The report presents the relationships for random noise radiated by concentrated forces exciting a shell. The mathematical model of the infinitely long stiffened cylindrical shell is employed to compute the radiation patterns for point forces exciting the shell. The behavior is traced from very low to very high frequencies. The shell acts as a dipole at low frequency. As the frequency is increased higher lobes enter the picture until finally at very high frequency the 'rabbit ear' behavior predicted for plates is predominant. (Author)
