Abstract : Two studies were conducted to evaluate a fixed-wing instrument procedures training device and to develop a training program for use with the device. In the first study, a group of trainees at the U. S. Army Aviation School who recieved synthetic instrument flight training with the new device were compared with a control group of trainees who did not. The second study was concerned with development and evaluation of an instrument flight training program designed especially for use with the new device. It appears that the training concepts have application to other programs utilizing training devices. (Modified author abstract)
