Abstract : Pulsed laser transmission holography (single exposure, double exposure and differential exposure) has successfully recorded small scale underwater detonations. Moire techniques with grids were used to supplement the holographic techniques. Holographic data were used to yield pressure distribution behind shock fronts. In addition, a limited number of experiments were also performed to study the interaction of shocks with free surface and bottom boundaries. Holographic techniques provide a clear visualization in three dimensions of the nature of the interactions of the shock wave with varying bottom conditions and can be used to obtain quantitative data pertaining to shock and acoustic waves from interactions with boundaries.
