Abstract : Controllability is a concept which has assumed a position of importance in a number of areas in control engineering. For control systems described by the vector differential-difference equation dx/dt = Ax(t) + Bx(t-1) + Cu(t), y(t) = Dx(t), the author studies two notions of controllability in the dissertation. These are termed controllability in euclidean space and function space controllability. For both these notions of controllability it is necessary to distinguish between complete controllability and null controllability. (Modified author abstract)
