Abstract : Macroscopic droplets of radius in the range of one mm were injected into an air-acetylene flame. The evaporation and combustion theories of droplets were presented. The interaction of charged droplets with the ions in a flame was also investigated. Both mass and charge loss of droplets through a flame were measured. Sodium D line technique was employed to measure the temperature of the flame. Various techniques of charge and mass measurement are also discussed. (Modified author abstract)
