Abstract : Using a model of first-trypainized fibroblasts of chicken embryos and RNA-containing virus s of vesicular stomatitis and Venezuelan equine encephalomyelitis, the authors studied the conditions of the stimulating effect of a polycation of diethylaminoethyl dextrane (DEAED) on the antiviral activity of a complex of synthetic polynucleotides, namely polyinocynic and polycytidylic acids. The degree of induction of interferon-formation and suppression of virus reproduction was found to depend on the relative size of the doses of polycation and of the polynucleotide complex, as well as on the method of processing the cells and the time of their contact with the preparations.
