Abstract : This report contains an evaluation of the susceptibility to fungi of the organic materials used in two types of 81 mm mortar car-tridges. The components were inoculated with a mixed fungal spore suspension and incubated on a mineral-salts agar medium. The intact propelling charge of the M374A2 cartridge was fungus resistant, and its components (silk-acetal fabric and M9 pro- pellant) supported no fungus growth. The intact propelling charge of the M374A2E1 cartridge supported a medium amount of growth. The charge included a celluloid plastic covering, M10 propellant and cotton cloth. (AM-PL)
