Compositions in the Ti-B system have received primary attention for possible armor application. Round disks with up to five-inch diameter and four-inch squares were made with a titanium-TiB2 blend corresponding to Ti(0.7)B. Tooling for such compacts is described. Smaller compacts have been prepared with different degrees of success from other materials, including light, hard compounds and several metals. (Author)
