Abstract : A simulation study was made to compare the performances of various schemes used for detecting Gaussian signals of unknown time of arrival and unknown duration. Such signals could represent, for instance, the output of a matched filter when the echo received is produced by a target whose length is large compared with the range resolution of the transmitted signal.
