Abstract : During the contract period three major lines of effort were pursued: (1) A comprehensive literature survey was completed to assess current knowledge and thinking about management style and organizational variables; (2) A survey questionnaire was constructed and tested in a variety of organizational settings. The final version of the instrument contains scales to measure a total of 31 variables relevant to management style. These variables fall into four major categories: Organizational inputs, relations between manager and subordinate, management style, and output variables of effectiveness and satisfaction; (3) An effort was directed at developing an experimental paradigm that included a subset of variables from the open systems model. These were power of manager and subordinate and information of manager and subordinate. (Modified author abstract)
