Abstract : Two computer programs were developed to evaluate the aeroelastic response of a telescoping rotor blade (TRAC). The first program calculates the uncoupled blade natural frequencies for flatwise, edgewise, and torsional degrees of freedom. The second program is a forced-response program and is a modification of the computer program provided to the Army under Contract DAAJ02-71-C-0024. It calculates the time history of the response of either a single blade or the complete rotor on a rigid-body airframe. Both steady-state and transient response can be analyzed. The forced-response program uses blade mode shapes and natural frequencies calculated from the natural frequency program. The mathematical model used reflects the unique structure of the TRAC blade, which consists of torque tube, outboard blade, jackscrew, and two tension straps. (Modified author abstract)
