Abstract : The authors formulate and solve the steady state problem of non-local thermodynamic-equilibrium line-radiation transport for a plasma consisting of two-level ions and electrons. The treatment allows energy transfer between an infinite energy (temperature) reservoir and the radiation field. The energy transfer mechanisms are discussed. The system of coupled rate equations and radiation transport equation is solved by linearizing the rate equations and radiation transport equation in the deviations of the electron temperature and ion kinetic temperature from their values in the central portion of the slab. The resulting system of equations is solved in the low temperature approximation in first Eddington approximation. The authors present results for the fractional energy loss of radiated energy.
