Abstract : Cognitive intervention may potentially be used to investigate both cognitive processes underlying test performance and the possible incorporation of learning experiences into ability estimates. City high school students were randomly assigned to one of six experimental conditions (including control) and were administered a test-intervention-retest sequence using verbal analogy items. It was found that modifiability is associated with the type of intervention. Furthermore, general types of relationships may effectively mediate analogy item solving. (Modified author abstract)
