Abstract : It is shown that the beam cross-section remains constant when a light (electromagnetic) beam propagates through a medium having random inhomogeneities in its index of refraction, provided merely that certain mild statistical restrictions are required to be in force on the character of these vagaries in the medium, such as the need for uniformity and isotropy.
