Abstract : The results of engineering design, fabrication, and testing of filament-wound tubular-reinforced composite main rotor blades for the UH-1D heli-copter are reported. Three blades were fabricated using wet winding, two using principally S-glass roving/epoxy and one using principally PRD- 49 roving. A design concept for making a highly redundant foot-end attachment was developed and the fabrication feasibility was proven. The ability to calculate the structural characteristics was verified with-in the testing and fabrication tolerances. Another achievement in the program was the development of computer program design and analysis techniques compatible with the inherent tailorability of the rotor blade.
