Abstract : Numerical models for oxygen and hydrogen have been developed and used to predict the ratio of oxygen to hydrogen radiative emission in infrared bands out to 21 micrometers. We treat the electron density regime 10 to the 6th power - 10 to the 12th power/cc and electron temperatures between .05 and .4ev. The important non-hydrogenic emission lines in oxygen are identified. By choosing bands which exclude these lines it is possible to ensure that oxygen-hydrogen emission ratios remain within a factor of 2 of unity over the entire density and temperature range. Within these bands a modeler using much simpler hydrogenic models for predicting bound-bound oxygen radiation in the disturbed atmosphere can be assured of reasonable accuracy. Calculations have been performed in the two limits: all radiation optically thin and resonance lines optically thick. (Author)
