Abstract : The author gives a method for solving the integral equation derived in a previous report, governing the temperal evolution of the amplitude of a 'key-down' whistler-mode signal which interacts with counter-streaming gyroresonant electrons in a limited region of the geomagnetosphere. Then, for a set of values of plasma and wave parameters typical for observations at l = 3, the author gives a family of solutions for a range of energetic electron densities. A certain critical density must be present in order for sustained quasi-periodic amplitude pulsations, similar to those reported in the literature, to occur. A second, and higher, critical density, above which the amplitude can actually undergo a change in sign is found; this corresponds to a 180 degree phase shift in the signal. The behavior of these solutions is then discussed from both a mathematical and a physical point of view. (Modified author abstract)
