Abstract : The study describes the development of a candidate dynamic model to predict arterial oxygen concentrations based on the dynamics of ventilation and perfusion. Measurements from humans and animals exposed to centrifugation are used to define the physiological parameters. Both steady state and dynamic changes in oxygen saturation due to Gz and Gx acceleration are considered. The reliability of the predictions of the model are verified and its value relative to aerial combat performance set forth. (Author)
