Abstract : The Robinson-Wampler image tube scanner, the Beaver-Digicon and direct coupled electrostatic image tubes are used as spectrophotometric detectors to study a variety of objects including a quasi-stellar source, extra galactic planetary nebulae, galactic planetary nebulae and H alpha emission line stars in the Large Magellanic Cloud. Direct coupled electrostatic image tubes are applied to a survey of the infrared component of Cygus OB2 and to the search for planetary nebulae in Local Group elliptical galaxies. A compilation of specific results is cited in the literature. (Author)
