Abstract : Most of the data currently available on genetic polymorphism arises from electrophoretic studies on enzymes. In principle, it is possible to obtain more detailed data by studying complete protein sequences. Measures are found for the increase in statistical efficiency attained in this new form of data. Statistical tests for both forms of data are obtained and compared. (Author)
