Abstract : A plasma surface-wave coupler consisting of interdigital metallic rings is described and the comparison between the theoretical and experimental results is presented. The coupling loss per coupler is 4 dB at the frequency of 52 MHz measured on an experimental setup consisting of a plasma tube and two couplers spaced 25 cm apart. The coupler is insensitive to slow-temporal and slow-spatial variations of the plasma frequency. The coupler can be used in plasma laser and plasma torch applications. (Author)
