Abstract : Progress made under this grant during the period 1 June 1970 to 30 November 1973 toward understanding of magnetic materials is summarized with references to six papers and five Ph.D. theses completed during this period. The progress includes the following: New results on nuclear and electronic spin-waves obtained from measurement of the transient decay of magnetic resonance signals. New information on one dimensional magnetic materials (linear chains) from careful measurement of electron paramagnetic resonance lineshapes, for ((CH3)4 N)MnCl3, Cu(NH3)(SO4).H2O, CsMnCl3.2H2O, and CuCl2.2NC5H5. Progress was made in the application of the cluster model to Hubbard Hamiltonian. Methods were developed for the use of an on-line and interactive computer system to carry out precise measurements of magnetic resonance lineshapes. (Author)
