Abstract : The following conclusions were drawn from data: Distribution of primary responses (PR) potential along the vertical auditory cortex of anaesthetized cats does not depend on sound intensity or on the polarity of a potential drawn off monopolarly from the surface of the cortex; regular changes in PR (in the latent period and value of phases), depending on sound intensity, is observed only within a narrow range of intensities; the first and second phases of the primary reponse are, evidently, determined by different processes in the mass of the cortex.
