Abstract : Based on linear theory of shallow shells, two universal numerical algorithms are given in order to study the stability of conical shells under arbitrary boundary conditions and taking into consideration structural orthotropy, moments and nonlinearity in the subcritical state, and also axisymmetric initial deflections. The axisymmetric load can vary along the generatrix according to any law. The proposed method of studying stability makes it possible to determine not only the critical loads, but also the parameters of the stress-strain state with stability failure.
