Abstract : Conditional estimators, based on order statistics, of the location and scale parameters of the normal distribution are developed using the method of Lagrange multipliers. Coefficients are tabulated for nearly best, linear, invariant, conditional estimators. They are designed to be used for samples of size 2 through 40, taken from a population which can be approximated by the normal distribution. The samples may be uncensored singly censored, or doubly censored. Simultaneous estimators may also be obtained using the tables. (Author)
