Abstract : A project currently in progress has three principal purposes: to determine whether the population presently entering military service has hearing within normal limits, to assess the evidence for hearing loss as a function of military experience, and to relate losses to observed utilization of protective devices (e.g., plugs and muffs). Results bearing on the first two questions will be reported elsewhere. In connection with the third objective, this study was primarily concerned with the prediction of hearing loss.
